Lowepro Sponsors Adobe Lightroom Adventure Photo Expedition to Tasmania

Sebastopol, CA April 3, 2008 Lowepro, the leading worldwide provider of protective cases and backpacks for imaging and technology products, today announced it is the exclusive camera bag sponsor for Adobe Photoshop Lightroom Adventure: Tasmania. This exciting event will take some of the world's most prolific photographers, along with a team from Adobe, on an expedition to capture images of the inspiring beauty and unique species found on the remote island of Tasmania. Participants will test out new Adobe digital photography software, uploading their images in real-time from the field, as they aim their cameras at the magnificent landscapes and the island's most precocious resident, the Tasmanian devil.

As the exclusive camera bag sponsor for the event, Lowepro was chosen to provide the superior quality, durability and protection these photographers will need while subjecting themselves and their equipment to the varying terrain and full range of natural conditions on the Australian island. Starting today, when this impressive group of photographers arrives in Tasmania, event partner O'Reilly Media will stream live coverage of the adventure to Lowepro's website.

Seventeen of the world's most well-known photographers will be joining this year's Lightroom Adventure Tasmania, including Maki Kawakita, who is featured in Lowepro's 2008 Vision brochure. Because each photographer has such vastly different equipment needs for this long and exotic trip, Lowepro has thrown open the doors to their showrooms for each pro to choose the most ideal carrying solutions for their unique needs. The most popular choices among participants have been Lowepro's newest All-Weather backpack, the Vertex AW, the easy-access SlingShot AW and the Primus AW backpack, the only backpack on the market made from over 51% recycled materials.

"We are truly excited to join such great partners in sponsoring an event which will not only inspire wonderful imagery, but will also allow these photographers to put our equipment to the test in some diverse real-life conditions while training their lenses on our Earth's natural beauty. While we can't control the weather, we can certainly make sure that everyone's equipment is well-protected and easily accessible so they won't miss that perfect shot," said Nicole Mummenhoff, senior vice president of global branding at Lowepro. "With our continued dedication to protecting and preserving our environment, we are proud to be involved in an event which will help draw attention to the abundant natural beauty found in Tasmania, the preservation of which is a priority to us as photographers and as members of the global community."
The Adobe Lightroom Adventure: Tasmania starts today, April 2, 2008 and ends on April 14, 2008. Other sponsors for Adobe Lightroom Adventure: Tasmania are Adobe, Tourism Tasmania, Qantas, Epson, Digital Railroad, O'Reilly, Hoodman, Lensbabies, and Sanyo. Read more information on the event.
