Colors with attributes from both the warm and cool colors can calm and excite. These are colors derived from a mix of a cool and warm color such as blue and red or blue and yellow.
A cool blue and a warm red combine to create deep purples and pale lavendars. To a lesser extent, shades of green, especially turquoise and teal, also have both the warming and cooling effects born of warm yellow and cool blue. Some light neutrals such as cream, pale beige, and taupe evoke some of the same warm and cool feelings of purples and greens. The opposite or clashing color for purple is green and for green, purple.
The profiles for each of these mixed colors include descriptions of their nature, cultural color meanings, how to use each color in design work, and which colors work best together.

Cool Color theory
Colors can be classified as warm or cool. Warm colors such as red, orange, or yellow, tend to be exciting, emphatic, and affirmative. In addition to these psychological effects, optically they seem to advance and expand.
Cool colors- blue, green, or violet- are psychologically calming, soothing, or depressive, and unephatic; optically, they appear to recede and contract. These characteristics are relative, however, since intensity and value also affect the spatial action of warm and cool colours. Intensely coloured shapes appear larger than duller ones of the same size. Light-valued shapes seem to advance and expand while dark-valued ones seem to recede and contract.
Cool colors tend to have a calming effect. At one end of the spectrum they are cold, impersonal, antispectic colors. At the other end the cool colors are comforting and nurturing. Blue, green, and the neutrals white, gray, and silver are examples of cool colors.
In nature blue is water and green is plant life - a natural, life-sustaining duo. Combine blues and greens for natural, watery color palettes. Heat up a too cool color palette with a dash of warm colors such as red or orange. If you want warmth with just a blue palette, choose deeper blues with a touch of red but not quite purple or almost black deep navy blues.
Cool colors appear smaller than warm colors and they visually recede on the page so red can visually overpower and stand out over blue even if used in equal amounts.
The profiles for each of these cool colors include descriptions of their nature, cultural color meanings, how to use each color in design work, and which colors work best together.

Warm Color theory
Warm colors rev us up and get us going. The warmth of red, yellow, or orange can create excitement or even anger. Warm colors convey emotions from simple optimism to strong violence. The neutrals of black and brown also carry warm attributes.
In nature, warm colors represent change as in the changing of the seasons or the eruption of a volcano. Tone down the strong emotions of a warm palette with some soothing cool or neutral colors or by using the lighter side of the warm palette such as pinks, pale yellows, and peach.
Warm colors appear larger than cool colors so red can visually overpower blue even if used in equal amounts. Warm colors appear closer while their cool counterparts visually recede on the page.
The profiles for each of these warm colors include descriptions of their nature, cultural color meanings, how to use each color in design work, and which colors work best together.

Color Green and its natural meaning how do it effect us psychologically.
Green Color, its meaning and representation. How do it effect us psychologically? Useful tips and technique for artists on how to draw, composition, and food for visual thought
Green is the color of nature. It symbolizes growth, harmony, freshness, and fertility. Green has strong emotional correspondence with safety. Dark green is also commonly associated with money.
Nature of Green: Green is a restful color with some of the same calming attributes of blue. Like blue, time moves faster in a green room.
Green has great healing power. It is the most restful color for the human eye; it can improve vision. Green suggests stability and endurance. Sometimes green denotes lack of experience; for example, a 'greenhorn' is a novice. In heraldry, green indicates growth and hope. Green, as opposed to red, means safety; it is the color of free passage in road traffic.
Use green to indicate safety when advertising drugs and medical products. Green is directly related to nature, so you can use it to promote 'green' products. Dull, darker green is commonly associated with money, the financial world, banking, and Wall Street.
Dark green is associated with ambition, greed, and jealousy.
Yellow-green can indicate sickness, cowardice, discord, and jealousy.
Aqua is associated with emotional healing and protection.
Olive green is the traditional color of peace.
Art tips:
Using Green: With both a warming and cooling effect, the color green denotes balance, harmony, and stability. Use several shades of green for a fresh, Springtime feel. Olive green, also called olive drab, is a not so drab summery green that may have military overtones for some people.
Using Green with Other Colors: Green with blue produces echoes of nature - water and forest and can denote new beginnings and growth. Green with brown, tan, or beige says organic or recycled and can be a good color combination for packaging of those type of products. Tri-color combinations of green with yellow and black or white are sporty, outdoorsy colors. Purple with green can be high contrast, lively. Lime green with orange and yellow is a fresh and fruity palette.

Yellow Color, its meaning and representation artists' tip and technique.
Yellow Color, its meaning and representation. Useful tips and technique for artists on how to draw, composition, and food for visual thought from idrawgirls.com
Yellow is the color of sunshine. It's often associated with joy, happiness, intellect, and energy.
Yellow produces a warming effect, arouses cheerfulness, stimulates mental activity, and generates muscle energy. Yellow is often associated with food. Bright, pure yellow is an attention getter, which is the reason taxicabs are painted this color. When overused, yellow may have a disturbing effect; it is known that babies cry more in yellow rooms. Yellow is seen before other colors when placed against black; this combination is often used to issue a warning. In heraldry, yellow indicates honor and loyalty. Later the meaning of yellow was connected with cowardice.
Use yellow to evoke pleasant, cheerful feelings. You can choose yellow to promote children's products and items related to leisure. Yellow is very effective for attracting attention, so use it to highlight the most important elements of your design. Men usually perceive yellow as a very lighthearted, 'childish' color, so it is not recommended to use yellow when selling prestigious, expensive products to men nobody will buy a yellow business suit or a yellow Mercedes. Yellow is an unstable and spontaneous color, so avoid using yellow if you want to suggest stability and safety. Light yellow tends to disappear into white, so it usually needs a dark color to highlight it. Shades of yellow are visually unappealing because they loose cheerfulness and become dingy.
Effect of Yellow on your eyes:
Yellow tends to cause more eye fatigue than any other color. It increases metabolism and upsets babies. People also tend to lose their temper more often in yellow rooms. Yellow often makes many people feel cheerful, energetic, and happy.
Buttery shades are easier to live with long term than bright, sunflower yellow. The range of yellows is vast and some lend themselves more readily to decorating schemes than others. Yellows also frequently prompt more opinionated feelings than other colors. People who like it, really like it and people who dont, tend to dislike it intensely.
Dull (dingy) yellow represents caution, decay, sickness, and jealousy.
Light yellow is associated with intellect, freshness, and joy.

How to Calibrate your monitor to printer to get the best quality print out.
How to Calibrate your monitor to printer to get the best quality print out.
Matching the colors you see onscreen to colors on a printed page can be tricky. Several factors determine WYSIWYG printing. First, you need to verify your monitor is properly calibrated. If the monitor color settings are wrong, your final output will be skewed. There are a number of ways to calibrate the monitor, although the most popular is probably using the pricy ColorBlind Prove It! The next piece of the puzzle is correctly calibrating your printer, which often varies based on the type of paper you use, as well as whether your inks are from the manufacturer or from a third party.
The first step in printer calibration is to calibrate your monitor. Then, make sure you use the correct printer driver for your printer. Within the printer driver you will find controls for finetuning the overall appearance of color from your printer. Depending on your needs, this may be sufficient to get the color you want.
Two general methods for additional printer calibration: visual and mechanical. The sometimes more expensive and accurate option is to use a hardware device that can read the output from your printer and make adjustments as necessary. For most typical users, visual calibration or the use of generic color profiles for your hardware is adequate.
Basic Visual Calibration
Using test images with a wide range of tonal values ideally consisting of a number of color bars, photographs, and blocks of colors and your eyes you can visually match up screen and print colors. You would display and print a test image then compare and adjust grayscale and color output in whatever controls provided for your printer.
Obtain digital test images from the Web and from some software or hardware manufacturers.
Targets and Test Images
Whether visually or with color management software, target images provide a range of color and grayscale for calibrating monitors, printers, scanners, and digital cameras. Find free and commercial scanner targets, their reference files, and other test images.
Norman Koren describes one way to use these test images for monitor and printer calibration without using color management sytem software.
Color Calibration with ICC Profiles
ICC profiles provide a way to insure consistent color. These files are specific to each device on your system and contain information about how that device produces color. With printers the ideal situation is to create separate profiles based on various combinations of ink and paper because this affects the appearance of the printed material. However, the stock or default profiles for your printer model (available with your software, from your printer manufacturer, or from other Web sites) are often adequate for most desktop printing.
For more precise color management needs, you can use color management software to develop custom ICC profiles for any device. Additionally, some online sources that create custom profiles for you. One such vendor is chromix.com.
ICC profiles
Get an ICC profile for your printer as well as your monitor, scanner, digital camera or other equipment.
Calibration Tools
Color Management Systems include tools for calibrating monitors, scanners, printers, and digital cameras so they all "speak the same color." These tools often include a variety of generic profiles as well as the means to customize profiles for any or all of your devices.
Color Management Systems
Choose the calibration tools that match your pocketbook and your needs for accurate representation of color on screen and in print.
Anyway, these are just the most common ways people do it. I am not so technical about it so if anyone has any good tips comment below.

Color Red, what does it represent? How does it effect human's emotion.
Color Red, what does it represent? How does it effect human's emotion.
Useful tips and technique for artists on how to draw, composition, and food for visual thought from idrawgirls.com
Red is the color of fire and blood, so it is associated with energy, war, danger, strength, power, determination as well as passion, desire, and love.
Red is a very emotionally intense color. It enhances human metabolism, increases respiration rate, and raises blood pressure. It has very high visibility, which is why stop signs, stoplights, and fire equipment are usually painted red. In heraldry, red is used to indicate courage. It is a color found in many national flags.
Red brings text and images to the foreground. Use it as an accent color to stimulate people to make quick decisions; it is a perfect color for 'Buy Now' or 'Click Here' buttons on Internet banners and websites. In advertising, red is often used to evoke erotic feelings (red lips, red nails, red-light districts, 'Lady in Red', etc). Red is widely used to indicate danger (high voltage signs, traffic lights). This color is also commonly associated with energy, so you can use it when promoting energy drinks, games, cars, items related to sports and high physical activity.
Light red represents joy, sexuality, passion, sensitivity, and love.
Pink signifies romance, love, and friendship. It denotes feminine qualities and passiveness.
Dark red is associated with vigor, willpower, rage, anger, leadership, courage, longing, malice, and wrath.
Brown suggests stability and denotes masculine qualities.
Reddish-brown is associated with harvest and fall.
So now you can use this information to help you create you art or you can analyze what you feel when you picking color at time. It's subconscious for most of us art when we pick the color, but there is something behind it. :)

-Genius MousePen 6x8
-Wacom Intuos3 6X8 Pen Tablet
-Bamboo (Small) Pen Tablet
Softwares:
-Gimp (Free Download)
-Adobe Photoshop CS2 (Professional software)
*You can just use pencil, paper, markers on this one...just practice rendering.

What is the best resolution for printing you illustration and art piece
What is the best resolution for printing you illustration and art piece
Resolution and Size Guidelines for Artists and illustrators
For best results, your image files should contain 300 dpi (for best result)of un-interpolated resolution at final print size. *So basically you have to set up your working file size at 300 dpi if you plan to print it.
Scanning your drawing- your scans need to be large enough for the purpose. Although prints can be made from smaller files, the lack of digital information present will give a less satisfactory and soft result. The ideal would be to create a scan to the output size you want, at 300 dpi.
Most common problem when printing image:
Color doesn't match: This happen all the time even in the professional environment.
Why?
There are many reasons why and ways that monitor displays and printed output are dissimilar including:
- Monitors use additive RGB color while printing uses subtractive CMYK pigments, each a different way of reproducing color.
- In print, ink layering and overlapping causes subtle shifts in color not found in the individual pixels that make up a screen image.
- Printed images don't have the same range, saturation, and contrast as a monitor making the colors typically darker and less vibrant than on screen. Paper texture and brightness also affect and change the printed image.
**TIPS: If you are an artist working on illustration, FOCUS ON THE VALUE and try not to use color that are not common or too saturate. If your value is correct, then your print out still be fine even if the color is OFF.
I will talk about how to calibrate the monitor in later post.

Color and Emotion, how we related to hues via value as a human and artist
Color and Emotion, how we related to color as a human and artist.
Just found some cool food for thought on color that might interested you guys as an artist. I believe it could perhaps help you find your own favorite palette and personal choice of colors.
Color is an aspect of life from which we cannot escape, and influences each persons actions and emotions, however subtle.
* Oceans, plants, rocks and animals radiate color in nature.
* Chefs pay special attention to color arrangements at gourmet restaurants.
* Marketers give products a certain image through the colors used on their packaging and in advertisements.
* In the morning, many people glance in the mirror to make sure they match (or dont match) to give others an impression of who they are.
* Women wear makeup, finding themselves more attractive when their cheeks are rosy and their eyes are colored.
* American culture has even coined phrases relaying their emotions through color: i.e., green with envy, feeling the blues.
Some Fact: Love, Sex & color.
The spectral sensitivity of color cones in humans and chimps are somewhat unusual. Bees have four color cones that are evenly spread across the visible color spectrum. Birds have three color cones. By contrast, humans have three types of cones that are sensitive to a limited range of wavelengths. The closeness, however, allows for the detection of subtle tone changes. When someone blushes, the skin becomes red from elevated oxygen levels. If you're exhausted, you become pale from the lack of oxygen. When a primate is ready to mate, oxygen levels rise again leading to blushing. The human and chimp eye can capture these different color levels, which can be signals of fitness or heartiness.
"For a hundred years, we've thought that color vision was for finding the right fruit to eat when it was ripe," says Mark Changizi, a theoretical neurobiologist and postdoctoral researcher at Caltech. "But if you look at the variety of diets of all the primates having trichromat vision, the evidence is not overwhelming."
Additional info:
From the time of early infancy, the human mind begins associating colors with certain emotions and experiences, and individuals retain those throughout their life. Childhood memories are so involved with color that, like engravings etched in stone, they stay in our memory forever, whether or not we notice a conscious effect on our actions. The tape recorders in our heads are never turned off, and into adulthood, we continue to respond to specific colors in a positive or negative way (Eiseman 14).
Some experts believe that humans also carry an ancient wisdom, a sort of hereditary recollection of natures meaning behind each color. (They also believe humans have, through evolution, acquired this memory for space, form and patterns.) (Eiseman 15).
This theory is perhaps confirmed in the warnings that nature gives us. For instance, the red gobbler on the rooster that flames to attract females or ward off enemies serve both purposes well. Bright yellow fish and yellow diamonds on snakes many times signals to predators the animal is poisonous. Over time, we begin to recognize these colors as signs, and adhere to their message.
The emotional and psychological effects of colors on each individual and their culture has received contributions both from personal experiences and the evolutionary, instinctive nature of our beings. Each color has distinctive ideas and emotions attached to them, most ideas which have their root in history.

Some Fact: Love, Sex & color.
"Your eyes evolved to see rosy cheeks."
The eyes in humans and their closest relatives in the primate world are geared to detect subtle changes in skin tone caused by blood oxygen levels, according to a new study from Caltech.
