Nokia 6300 gold edition

A few days ago I posted about the exclusive luxury Motorola V3i with gold and diamonds by Peter Alloison. Now he brings us the Nokia 6300 in 24 carat gold. When I first saw the pics, I thought it was an official version by Nokia. The phone looks great for people and competes with the 8800 Sirocco Gold just recently announced by Nokia. There is also the LG shine in gold for fans of LG. Pics from the Chinese it168 site.

Java mp3 player - KD Player v0.5.5

I found this at a Russian site. It is a Java based mp3 player called KD Player v0.5.5. It seems to have a lot of features like support for ID3 tags and creating and editing mp3 files. It is still in development so it could be a bit buggy. It should work in all Java enabled phones (was tested on Sony Ericsson W810, K800, Z710/Nokia Series40/5300). Unfortunately the program is in Russian. Maybe the author will make an English version in the future.

Sony Ericsson telescopic radio antenna

Check out this cool home made radio antenna. This was posted by "eyeyousee" over at se-nse's forums. Well this eliminates the use of the wire headset as an antenna for the radio but you can't answer calls. Anyone who is interested in building one should check out the thread at se-nse. There is a tutorial there. Good stuff!

Walkie talkie phone bus stop ad

Now this is a fresh idea. Solo is a provider in Canada and they installed 2 way radios in bus stops all over Vancouver, Montreal, Toronto, and Calgary. People can talk to each other through these ads. This ad is to promote their walkie talkie service. Quite cool.

SONY OFFERS ACCELERATED DATA TRANSFER WITH MEMORY STICK PRO-HG DUO MEDIA

SAN DIEGO, April. 25, 2007 To support the growth of products that record large amounts of data, such as high mega pixel digital cameras and high-definition camcorders, Sony today announced the availability of its new Memory Stick PRO-HG Duo media, which offers data transfer up to three times faster than standard Memory Stick Duo products.

Available in 1GB, 2GB and 4GB capacities, Sonys Memory Stick PRO-HG Duo media has shorter data transmission times and faster recording times between hardware thanks to an 8-bit parallel interface and the flash memory device. With the addition of four connector pins to the Memory Sticks traditional 4-bit parallel interface, the resulting 8-bit parallel interface provides data transfer of up to 30MB/s (240 Mbps) megabytes per second

This doesn't benefit Sony Ericsson users since the phones that use MSPD probably don't support these high speeds and the newer phones are using the M2 sticks.

Pics of Sony Ericsson T610 after the battery exploded inside

I found this at the same site that reviewed the Nokia N70 clone. These guys rock! The site is in Czech so I have no clue what is written there but the pictures are pretty self explanatory. The battery blew up inside the phone...I don't know if it was an accident or purposely done though. That explosion did quite alot of damage and probably generated alot of heat to melt the phones parts. This beats the K800 that was melted by a candle and the N95 that was broken in a fight.

Mobile01 have posted lots of pics of the Nseries party that took place a few days ago. Of course the N76 and N95 were heavily promoted there but other Nseries devices were also present. Lots of models were there also. It's worth checking out.

Nokia Hong Kong messes up it's N95 brochure

Hksincere reports that there were 2 mistakes in Nokia Hong Kong's N95 product brochure. Even if you don't know Chinese, you can see the mistakes. In the first pic Nokia wrote that the phone has a 1.6 million color screen instead of 16 million. The second pic Nokia wrote that the phone supports miniSD cards instead of microSD. Quite funny that they messed up...also on such an expensive phone.

SE's TrackID now in Java

Someone made a Java version of SE's TrackID. This means it that this can be run on any Java enabled phone. The problem is that I can't get it to work on my P990. Here are the instructions:

- Record with the phones built in voice recorder (at least 10-15 seconds)
- Then run the program and browse to the recorded file (1st pic)
- Select the file and connect to the net
- The info will be processed
- Then you will be prompted to open web browser with the results (2nd pic)

The pics are from "thecoolsha" over at ipmart forums. He managed to get it to work on the P990 and tested using a 2pac song. There is a thread over at Esato discussing this program and also a link for download. There are lots of people who couldn't get this to work. This program doesn't work as good or look as good as the original but is a good alternative to people who want this function (providing it works). One annoying thing with this program is that you need to give it permission everytime it tries to access the phones files. But hey, it's free.

Sony Ericsson and Spiderman 3

Sony Ericsson has created a very nice Spiderman 3 themed minisite. There is info on the new Spiderman 3 movie that is supposed to be released on May 4. There are mobile downloads which includes screensavers, wallpapers and video clips. There is also a Spiderman game which I didn't try out yet since you need to register (later I will try the game). There are also 2 movie trailers there and a K800/Spiderman TV commercial (maybe there will a K800 speical Spiderman edition or some other Spiderman phone). I like how everything is transitioned and how the trailers are displayed. It's worth checking out...now I want to see the movie.

PS3 launched in Europe

The PS3 was launched today in Europe and Australia finally after a long delay. At the London launch people were rewarded free taxi rides home and a 46 inch HDTV. It was certainly worth waiting in line in London to buy the PS3. The launches were crime free unlike the U.S..
