This is canon�s first attempt in Pocket size super-zoom packing an impressive 12x optical zoom range into a relatively pocketable form factor, while keeping up with the latest gadgets and features. The SX200 has one or two interesting design features. It has an aluminium and plastic body which curves inwards on the right-hand side for better grip. On top is a pop-up flash, small power button, large mode dial, shutter button and zoom rocker switch. At the backside of the camera, there is a 3inch LCD screen followed by direct print button, playback button, and beneath these, a multi-controller for functions such as flash mode, macro and self timer button. Surrounding the multi-controller is a control dial, which is used for various settings.

At the bottom there is menu and display buttons which performs their corresponding functions and finds itself to be user-friendly. There is a flap covering the lithium-ion battery compartment which Canon claims is good for 280 shots under CIPA conditions and memory card slot. Behind a large silver flap on the upper right side of the body are a combined USB and standard TV output, alongside an HDMI port. HDMI is a relatively new, but welcome addition to Canon�s compacts, allowing models like the SX200 IS to make HD slideshows on suitably-equipped HDTVs.
