Bastard!! Destructive God of Darkness (?????!! ??????, Basutado!! Ankoku no Hakai Shin?) . Top 100 Manga you should read! It is one of my most favorite of all time. :) I really love the art work back then and some what the story.

Bastard!!! is a manga by Kazushi Hagiwara. It first appeared in Weekly Shonen Jump, in 1988, and continues to be published irregularly today in Ultra Jump. Currently, it spans 25 volumes.


Kazushi Hagiwara is an enthusiastic fan of heavy metal music and Dungeons & Dragons, using ideas from both of these in the Bastard!! story. Many characters and places in the story, for instance, are named after members of Hagiwara's favorite bands. Hagiwara also attributes the manga Devilman by Go Nagai as a primary influence on his artwork.


Story:
It is about sorcery, revenge, and other power struggles in a Dungeons & Dragons-like world. It is a dystopian world, where people need magic to survive against wild beasts, and evil monsters. There are endless rulers, each one with his own army of knights and mages, who fight for survival against those beasts and the armies of multiple evil sorcerers. This world can be perfectly described by the words from the opening:


"Several hundred years, after the fall of human civilization...

It was a lawless period, a time without order.

Only blood, flesh, bone, and iron...

It was also a time of Sorcery...

Having been terrorized by demonic creatures their entire lives, humans beings were miserably inadequate, and forced to subsist in a barren, bastille environment."

While the first half of the manga follows most a theme similar to Dungeons & Dragons scenarios, it later also focuses on aspects such as beliefs, morals and religions.

Berserk (?????, Beruseruku?) is a long-running dark fantasy manga by Kentaro Miura.

This is one of the best top quality (story/detail oriented art)shows out there. Nothing can really compete with its intricate detail of blood and emotional disposition. Everything that happens in this anime, happens for specific reasons. Hidden truths behind every 'mask' everything so vague for awhile.

And who says all problems can�t be fixed with a giant sword?

Unlike other stories of insanely powerful warriors like in Lone Wolf and Cub or Trigun, Guts doesn�t have much of a conscience. He�ll insult others and put them at risk in order to fulfill his own objectives, whatever they may be (like he has to explain himself?). The truth might turn out to be something typically noble and sappy, he�s quite unique.


Berserk's setting is inspired by medieval Europe. It centers around the life of Guts, an orphaned mercenary warrior, and Griffith, the leader of a mercenary band called the Band of the Hawk (???, Taka no Dan?). As he ages, Guts changes from a solitary boy into a man who realizes the value of camaraderie. The story contains elements of both fantasy and horror, as it explores both the best and worst of human nature. Both the manga and anime are noted for their heavy violence.

"Rokudenashi Blues" Manga top 100 you should read.

This one is some sort of a sub-cultural East Asian typical rebellious teenagers kind of Manga. Friendships, personalities, school gang or clan...whatever goes. One of my favorite of all time. I can understand why it won't be published in English because of its content are too niche...and culturally, it might not make sense.
But if you want to get to know the core of Far East culture, this is the Manga you should read especially if you are a guy.


Rokudenashi Blues (?????BLUES, Good-For-Nothing Blues?) Is a manga about high school delinquents in Tokyo, Japan, drawn and written by Masanori Morita, and serialized in Shonen Jump in Japan. While very popular in Japan, it has yet to be released in English.


The story stars Taison Maeda (????, Maeda Taison?), delinquent student of Teiken High (????, Teiken High?), who wishes to become the World Boxing Champion. The manga follows Maeda (and his friends and rivals) as he struggles through 3 years of high school while becoming one of the strongest and best known high school fighters in all of Tokyo. Not just a pure action manga, Rokudenashi Blues is filled with humor and well-crafted story arcs about honor, friendship and the pressures of being a delinquent student in Japan. Short gag-stories with chibi versions of characters are published as 'Rokudenashi Buru-chu'.

Dr. Slump and Arare Chan Top 100 Manga comics of all time everyone have to read.

Dr. Slump and Arare (Dr. (????) ????, Dokuta Suranpu?) is one of the first Mangas I exposed to very early on. Created by Akira Toriyama (also creator of DragonBall). The title was serialized in Shueisha's anthology comic Weekly Shonen Jump from 1980 to 1984,

It's one of the most random fun comics I've ever read.

Dr. Slump is filled with puns, sexual references, and bathroom jokes, and parodies of both Japanese and American culture. For example, one of the recurring characters is "Suppaman", a short, fat, pompous buffoon who changes into a Superman-like costume by eating a sour-tasting ("suppai" in Japanese) umeboshi. Unlike Superman, Suppaman can't fly well, and instead pretends to fly by lying belly down on a skateboard and scooting through the streets. In the PS2 game Super Dragon Ball Z, in the city level, by breaking the porta-potty, Suppaman (with the hiragana "su" character on his chest) will roll off on his skateboard. Also, a policeman in Dr. Slump can be seen wearing a Star Wars-style storm trooper helmet, just as in the American movies.


Dr. Slump is set in Penguin Village (?????, Pengin Mura?), a place where humans co-exist with all sorts of anthropomorphic animals and other objects. In this village lives Senbei Norimaki, an inventor (his name is a pun on a kind of rice cracker). His nickname is "Dr. Slump" (a joke that can be seen as similar to nicknaming an author "Writer's Block.")

In the first issue, he builds a little robot girl he names Arale Norimaki, a pun on another kind of rice cracker), in scenes obviously parodying the Italian children's classic Pinocchio (note: "Arale" is Toriyama's official romanized spelling of her name). Because Senbei is a lousy inventor, she soon turns out to be in severe need of eyeglasses. She is also very na�ve, and in later issues she has adventures such as bringing a huge bear home, having mistaken it for a pet. To Senbei's credit, she does have super-strength (and, in a Dragonball crossover she proved to be genuinely stronger than the young Son Goku, prompting him to train harder). In general, the manga focuses on Arale's misunderstandings of humanity and Senbei's inventions, rivalries, and romantic misadventures.


Guest Appearance in DragonBall.
She shows up in the series when Goku chases General Blue all the way to Penguin Village, she then defeats Blue with one kick and two headbutts after he paralyzes Goku. She was also able to ride on the Kinto'un (Flying Nimbus in the U.S. anime), which indicates her as being pure of heart. She appears in both anime and manga versions.

Cyborg 009, Top 100 Manga of all time and you should read it.
This one is really ancient, and I remember reading some of them when I was a kid...also see some Anime rerun. I believe it might be as old as AstroBoy.

The special thing about it is that this original idea basically gives birth and inspire to so many Manga series later on.

The cool factor about it? Think x-men, but they are partially machine and been modify...they didn't really born with the special abilities.

Cyborg 009 (?????009, Saibogu Zero-Zero-Nain?) is a manga created by Shotaro Ishinomori. It was serialized in many different magazines, including Monthly Shonen King, Weekly Shonen Magazine, Monthly Shonen Jump, COM, Weekly Shonen Sunday, Weekly Shonen Big Comic, SF Animedia, and Shojo Comic in Japan. The manga was published in English by TOKYOPOP; as of 2006 it is out of print.


It is the tale of nine regular humans kidnapped by the evil Black Ghost organization to undergo human experiments. The result of this tampering are nine cyborgs, each one having super human powers. The nine cyborgs band together to fight for their freedom and to stop Black Ghost. The evil organization's goal is to start the next world war, by supplying any rich buyers with their choice of countless weapons of war and mass destruction.


The evil Black Ghost organization kidnapped several people from around the world and turned them into cyborgs designed to be perfect weapons, but their evil plan backfires because the nine cyborgs still retain some of their humanity. Once the cyborgs escape, they vow to defeat the Black Ghost and bring peace to mankind.

It starts when Cyborg 001 reaches out to Cyborg 009. When Cyborg 009 wakes up he finds himself in this laboratory, and he doesn't know how he got there. Then, when Cyborg 009 tries to find a way out, a lot of robots come after him. Cyborg 001 continues to reach out to Cyborg 009 by mind. Cyborg 009 finds out that he has these amazing powers, but what he doesn't know is that he's a cyborg.

When Cyborg 009 escapes, more robots came after him. He fell off a cliff into the ocean. Then Cyborg 008 was swimming around and spots Cyborg 009. He rescues him and brings him to land. Then more robots come after Cyborg 009. Then Cyborg 002 saves him by flight, and brings him to the others. But before they really got to know each other, they were attacked.

Elements of this series would later find their way into Kamen Rider (1971), another famous creation by Ishinomori. The plots are the same, except that the weekly threats are mutants, and there is just one hero (later two), as opposed to nine.

Cobra (???, Kobura?) is a sci-fi manga created by Buichi Terasawa, later turned into an anime movie and a TV series. Each version has had a slightly different name:
Original run: 1978 � 1984

* TV anime title: Space Cobra (???????, Space Cobra?)
* Theater released anime title: Cobra: Space Adventure (??? SPACE ADVENTURE, Cobra: Space Adventure?)

One of my favorite of all time, COBRA. What could be better than space adventure, tons of action, robots, androids, and hot women. That says it all.


Story:The series features the infamous space-pirate Cobra who was once forced to hide from enemies by surgically altering his face and erasing his own memory. At the start of the story he is living an ordinary life but after going to a trip-parlor where ordinary people live out their fantasies as powerful implanted dreams he starts to regain his true memories (a similar concept occurs in Philip K. Dick's We Can Remember It for You Wholesale and its movie adaptation Total Recall). With his android partner Lady Armaroid (a female armored being) literally 'bursting' out of the bulky domestic robot she impersonated in his years of 'vacation', and his old ship Tortuga (Turtle in Spanish), he now faces foes both old and new. The first, and most well-known of the manga stories sees him encountering the Royal sisters whose bodies have tattoos that could lead to a great treasure.

Top 100 Manga of all time "Fist of the North Star" that influence the generation before the 21th century.

I decided to make a new topic of my top 100 Manga that influence me as a kid and make me who I am today. They are not all anime looking like we, in America, usually expose to. And to refresh our head because if you are a reader of my blog you think you will only get how to draw and paint. Well, this is somehow relate...because everyone has his or her heroes. And this is about what have influence me in the past and present and I just want to let your guys see what beyond before I could even become a professional artist.

One was my huge inspiration as a little kid, I used to love the highly detail line work of Tetsuo Hara back then (and still). Also Great story line which later turns into an Anime series. The set and everything WAS fresh back then. I didn't see any genre like it then.

I think this one is finally published in US five to ten years back (can't remember when exactly.)
It was one of the big inspiration that make me want to do great art as a little child, and now I am doing them...donno if they great, but good enough I guess.

Maybe if I have some time, I should do tribute to all the Manga, Anime and Comics and all the traditional painters that inspired me. :)

"Fist of the Big Dipper"'), also known as Ken, the Great Bear Fist,[1][2] is a Japanese manga series that was originally serialized from 1983 to 1988 in the Japanese magazine Weekly Shonen Jump, created by Tetsuo Hara and Buronson. The manga spans 245 chapters that were originally reprinted in 27 collected volumes (tankobon) under the Jump Comics imprint.


Set in a post apocalyptic world where the Earth is barren and the strong survive by preying on the weak, the series follows the journey of Kenshiro, the successor of Hokuto Shinken (????, "Divine Fist of the North Star"?), a secret martial arts style that allows its practitioner to destroy an opponent's body from within by striking into their secret channeling points, often resulting in a violent and gruesome death. Kenshiro uses his skills to protect the weak and innocent against the numerous villains that threaten their survival.


Fist of the North Star was one of the Weekly Shonen Jump's most popular titles during the 1980s.
