Nikon D300 Digital SLR Test: Sample Image Gallery

The new Nikon 12.3 MP D300 Digital SLR is now shipping and available in stores. We have had the opportunity to try out a final production Nikon D300, and have just posted an image gallery with links to full resolution sample images from this exciting new camera.

Our Nikon D300 image samples gallery includes tests taken under a variety of conditions and lighting situations.

The Nikkor AF-S DX 18-70mm f/3.5-4.5G IF-ED zoom lens was used for most of the D300 test shots and a couple were taken with the Nikkor AF 50mm F1.8 fixed prime, a lens that offers very good results and excellent value for the money.

To highlight the great versatility and system compatibility of the D300, we decided to see how the Nikon D300 performs with the legacy Manual Focus Nikkor 45mm F/2.8P lens, which has an excellent reputation for sharpness and overall image quality.

The Nikkor 45mm F/2.8P was originally designed as a very compact standard lens (only 17mm thin) to complement the Nikon FM3A, 35mm film camera.

The Nikon 45mm F/2.8P is compatible with all exposure modes of CPU-controlled Nikon SLRs like the Nikon D300.
