I took my daughters for a day out at the National Trusts Belton House near Grantham, Lincolnshire.
This English country house was built in the 17th Century for the Young Sir John Brownlow. His family had gained their vast fortune through law.
The house and grounds were used for the famous adaption BBC TV adaption of Jane Austins Pride and Prejudice starring Colin Firth and Jennifer Ehle.
The front facade of Belton House is certainly an imposing edifice.
Even the gate house and coach house with its clock tower is on a grand scale.
The opulence and attention to detail is evident everywhere you look. Even the wrought iron gates leading from the coach house and courtyard at the side of the house are intricately festooned with coats of arms and decorations.
I will be re-visiting here on my blog, the grounds, which include extensive immaculately manicured gardens, a boating lake, orangery and many beautiful plants and trees over the next few days. Why not come back and explore them with me.
