If the D200 was revolutionary, the D300 is more of an evolution, but one that has a good number of evolutionary elements drawn from both ends of the spectrum.

Priced at �1299 body only, the D300 holds up well against the older Canon EOS 5D at �1449 body only. They share the same resolution, but the Nikon has a superior focus area. However, the Canon has a full frame sensor. Also, the new Olympus E3 at �1099 body only with 10Mp, 11 point focus area and uses the smaller Four thirds sensor.
