TOKYO Sony Corp said Wednesday that it will launch its new alpha700 digital single-lens reflex camera on Nov 9, a week earlier than initially planned. The move is apparently aimed at attracting as many customers as possible since rival makers are also launching new digital SLR models toward the year-end sales campaign.
Nikon Corp and Olympus Corp are slated to release new models next month. Canon Inc has already put a new model on the market. The alpha700 model is expected to retail for 180,000 yen when sold without a lens. Including lens, it will sell for around 230,000 yen.
