TOKYO: Olympus has unveiled its flagship digital single lens reflex (DSLR) camera, the E-3, at a product launch in Tokyo.
Olympus claims the E-3 has the world's fastest 11-point auto-focus system and high-speed sequential shooting at five frames per second. It also features a built-in image stabiliser and dust reduction system.
The camera is claimed to have a dust and splash-proof body that houses a 10.1-megapixel Live MOS sensor with TruePic III image processor.
It sports a 2.5-inch LCD that can swivel up to 270 degrees, making it easy to compose shots in cramped spaces or at acute angles. The optical viewfinder has a 100-per-cent field of view, a feature not found even in high-end DSLRs. The viewfinder has 1.15x magnification.
The E-3 lived up to expectations with its tough build and sturdy grip during a handling test at Wednesday's launch.
