Fujifilm : IS-1

Fujifilm does it again with the follow-up to the popular S3 Pro UVIR camera.

The IS-1 is a specially modified Neo-SLR digital camera with a built-in 10.7X zoom that helps reduce dust common in interchangeable lens SLR's. This camera is more suited to the point and shoot needs of of forensic or scientific photographers, yet retains some of the basic features that made the S3 Pro UVIR so popular. The technology designed into the Fujifilm IS-1 was initially designed for traditional visible wavelength imagery. However, the natural low noise signature of the Fujifilm Super CCD produces high quality high resolution images within a limited band of Visual to Infrared. Because of the wide range of light spectrums captured, focusing and exposure are often done manually. However if enough visible light is available auto focusing will work.

Unfiltered color images will retain a pink hue due to the added presence of increased red and infrared light captured. A great deal of this cast can be eliminated by adding a hot mirror filter or UVIR cut filter to remove the presence of IR light.

Fast moving subject? No problem. Fujifilm's Picture Stabilization technology utilizes the heightened sensitivity of the Fujifilm IS-1 at ISO1600 and high-speed shutter settings to prevent camera shake or freeze subject movement, keeping blur to a minimum. This easy to access feature (selectable on the mode dial) lets the Fujifilm IS-1 choose the correct light sensitivity and best-matching shutter speed automatically, for the highest quality digital pictures.

Real Photo Technology captures treasured moments just as your eye sees them. Combining the new RP Processor, 5th Generation Super CCD-HR Sensor and Fujinon Lens Optics, the IS-1 delivers ultra-high sensitivity with low noise, faster operational speeds and reduced power consumption. This allows you to capture priceless memories of photographs with every nuance of light and color, even in low light situations without a flash.

The IS-1 features a 10.7x Wide Angle Optical Zoom with 58mm filter threads (equivalent of 28mm - 300mm compared to 35mm film camera). With Super Macro mode, the IS-1 can focus clearly as close up as 0.4". With the addition of a beam assist, the IS-1 will be able to automatically focus even in low light conditions.

This is a restricted sale product intended for Fujifilm legitimate business purpose in the medical, forensic, fire investigative, law enforcement, scientific, systems integrators, local and federal government. You will be asked by the dealer to comply with the following End User License Agreement (EULA).

By breaking the packaging seal you acknowledge your understanding and acceptance of Fujifilm's Ultraviolet (UV) and/or Infrared (IR) sensitive digital camera firmware End User License Agreement. The camera firmware contained in each system package is fully activated to engage the camera's UV and/or IR capabilities and ready for use. No other firmware modifications are necessary in order to activate the camera's UV and/or IR wavelength sensitive CCD. THIS LICENSE IS NON-TRANSFERABLE.

You hereby acknowledge and agree that your use of the camera's UV and/or IR light energy sensitive capabilities, as enabled by Fujifilm's camera firmware, will be purely to accomplish a legitimate business purpose in the medical, forensic, fire investigative, law enforcement, scientific, systems integrators, local and federal government.

In addition, you further agree not to use the camera's firmware enabled capabilities to engage in unethical photographic conduct involving the violation of personal privacy, child endangerment, lewd photography, and or paparazzi like activities.

Specific wavelengths can be isolated and captured from daylight or artificial light sources via lens filtering or by use of an Alternative Light Source (ALS) such as a forensic crime scope lighting technology like those sold by SPEX Forensics. The IS-1's on camera flash provides a limited amount of IR light and can be used to increase available light when filtering the lens for IR.

Equipped with dual media slots for handling of xD-Picture Cards and Compact Flash/Microdrives, the IS-1 lets you concentrate on shooting without worrying about storage space. You can even insert different types of media in each slot and then select which one you want to use to store each image as you shoot.

The IS-1 has all its angles covered with a tilting 2" LCD making it easy to frame your shot from a variety of shooting positions. And thanks to the LCD gain up control, you'll be able to view the LCD in bright and low light conditions even when the lens is filtered with opaque IR filters. Sharp fine focus using manual focusing via the LCD viewfinder is assisted by a 10X center point zoom feature. The viewfinder is electronic with 235,000 pixel resolution and provides approximately 100% coverage.

i-Flash fine-tunes flash output for shooting with high sensitivity settings. I-Flash is not fully functional when the lens is filtered for IR capture only. i-Flash recognizes scene conditions and determines the optimum flash output to ensure superb results. Subjects in the foreground appear natural, and background detail is bright and clear. The difference is especially noticeable in the natural facial tones of people in your pictures, in close-ups and group photos alike.
