Composition: Use Foreground to Balance the Background
If youre trying to photograph a distant subjecta landscape or cityscape, for examplea common trick is to use the relationship between foreground and background by place something of interest in the foreground to provide a sense of balance. When done well, the viewers eyes are drawn immediately to the foreground object, and then theyll wander to the background. This is an effective technique for adding a sense of depth and perspective to a photograph, as well as giving the foreground a sense of scale.
